GS Laboratory Equipment Introduces Legaci™ Refrigeration System For Revco Brand Ultra-Low Temperature Freezers
Revco Sets New Standard For Reliability and Dependability In Ultra-Low Storage Applications

Click Here for enlarged PDF version of literature (180k)		(Asheville, North Carolina USA, October 12, 1998) GS Laboratory Equipment (a unit of General Signal Corporation) today announced the introduction of the Legaci™ System, a cascade refrigeration system designed exclusively for Revco ultra-low temperature freezers used in biomedical, pharmaceutical, hospital/clinical, life science and industrial laboratories for storage of high value materials at temperatures to -85°C.

• Marketed under the Revco brand, the Legaci™ refrigeration system integrates custom designed compressors built to GS Laboratory Equipment specifications by The Copeland Company (Sidney, Ohio), charged with CFC-free DuPont SuvaŽ refrigerants (DuPont Company, Wilmington, Delaware), and commanded by a microprocessor-based digital control/alarm/monitor system.
• In accelerated life tests under high load conditions conducted by GS Laboratory Equipment and independent testing laboratories, Legaci™ compressors exhibit significant reductions in wear compared to conventional reciprocating compressors not specifically designed for ultra-low applications. As a result, reliability for critical material storage is dramatically improved.

The Legaci™ System is based on a conventional, time-tested cascade refrigeration technique centered around an interstage heat exchanger which permits a low stage circuit to remove heat from the storage chamber, passing it through the system via a high stage loop driven by an independent compressor.

• The Legaci™ compressors are custom designed and qualified for ultra-low temperature applications.
• The Legaci™ design improves compressor lubrication, reduces bearing loads, and operates cooler than previously possible.
• DuPont SuvaŽ refrigerants and Revco specially processed oils are formulated for the Legaci cascade system, offering optimum performance and improved reliability.

The Legaci™ refrigeration system is now included as a standard feature the Revco line of Ultima II, Ultima, Elite and Value model chest and upright freezers operating at -85°C (-121°F) to -40°C (-40°F). Biomedical storage applications include high value pharmaceuticals, cell cultures, blood, skin and bone tissue, stem cells, embryos, and seed cultures.
